Actions speak louder than words

This statement proves to have been very relevant when it comes to art.
Have you ever been a museum where people talk about the piece of art before having seen it? Very rarely. This is because the action of painting, sculpting etc is what triggers the words to come out of your mouth. And sometimes artist decide that the painting itself is not speaking loud enough, and rather make it scream out loud.
Speaking of which, on the 6th of October 2018, a great and controversial event was written in the worlds records of art history. The mysterious, Banksy decided to shred his very own "Girl With the Red Balloon" while it was being auctioned at the Sotheby's house. Not only has this doubled its value but most importantly the news spread across the globe within seconds. For me this confirms that actions speak louder than words. Banksy is one of the prime examples of artists who have the power to make change without even having an identity known to the world.
In a world that lacks in privacy and where everyone knows about everything, he keeps his real self underground and only comes through to the surface with his subtle street art pieces which appear in specific, popular and strategic locations. With this bold move, I believe that staying on the down low will become even more challenging for this individual, but the quest for him will become evermore fascinating than before.
A bit more on the piece "Girl With the Red Balloon". I believe that it has a very interesting message where again her action of longing for the balloon has a significance. For one it could mean the desire for love since the balloon is heart shaped, for another it could just mean the action of letting go of the past and all the hurt that was associated with it. The colour contrast between monochrome and the red ballon gives more importance to it.
I encourage everyone to take a step back before speaking and let the action speak for itself before adding a word to it. Wether that is in everyday life or in your different art journeys.
