Contrast, colors and cravings

As summer has just come upon us it is only fair that I address all the beautiful colors emerging in nature. With summer come many different types of cravings. For some that may be and ice cream on a hot day, or a boat trip to your favorite lunch spot across the lake. Naturally, my type of craving is one of the artistic nature. I have always found that summer is the best time to refresh your inspiration and re-organize your color palette.

The hotter days always motivate to go out and explore new areas yet undiscovered to nourish my artist mind. It is important for me to take time to clarify my thoughts and come up with a concrete project to begin in the fall. Thus, summer is perfect to do so, as no routine is imposed on me and my imagination is allowed to run wild.

Now you may wonder where contrast comes into the summer story. Until now I have only talked about craving creativity and inspiration. But, on the other hand summer can also be the reason why some may experience certain struggles to continue their creative journey without any guidance. The loss of routine can also lead to a loss of motivation or will to invest time into new projects. There lies the whole paradox. Summer drives cravings but it also drives artistic block. To tackle this, one must find a balance between both drive and restrain. One day may be filled with creativity and on other days you may feel lost in the middle of endless routes of inspiration. Let yourself experience this, it is the only way you can find out what truly inspires you as this will be the only thing able to motivate you and get you out of the summer slump.
