"An escape in the midst of chaos"

I am lucky enough to be located so close to one of the largest art fairs the world has to offer; Art Basel. In June, this Swiss city is a place where art fanatics, collectors, students and many more people come together to celebrate their common passion: Art. It is a place of incredible diversity of art styles, materials and themes. There is something for everyone; photography, sculpture, digital art, painting and my personal favourite, design.

In collaboration with Art Miami, the design section exhibits an abundance of design retailers and boutiques. Each one of them offers such unique pieces of furniture that I would only dream of having in my home. It always fascinates me how a table, something so simple, can be turned into a masterpiece. I have always admired designers that can create furniture that is both useful and aesthetically pleasing.

While the design section was my favourite, the main selection of artworks was also breathtaking. This years galleries all exhibited such distinctive artworks from newly emerging artists among the most famous ones, such as Herst, Lichtenstein of Murakami. While those artists remain the main attraction, it was refreshing to discover new personalities and styles. It was obvious to me that new artists had a more concerned outlook on our planet and society which made their work even more impactful.

All in all, Art Basel is a place of inspiration for any artist and serves as a spring board to propel us into new projects of the future.
